I have been a staunch supporter of action over words. To me, they represent a more tangible actualization of a person or relationship. Simple words mean almost nothing if our actions speak otherwise at the end. However, I’ve been reconsidering this stance. I have begun to realize that words too can have great power in themselves to make or break things.
Words can create action.
Words that are harsh or insensitive can translate into very tangible negative consequences. Broken promises change our expectations from a relationship. Even saying the right thing the wrong way can prove to be harmful. Whether we are conscious of it or not, we use other people’s words to judge the kind of person they are, and form our opinion of them.
Choose your words carefully. You never know what impact they have on the other person.
